Putin submits to State Duma draft law on gambling zone in Crimea

Russian President Vladimir Putin has submitted to the State Duma a draft law on the creation of Russia's fifth gambling zone in the Republic of Crimea.

The draft federal law adjusts the law "about state regulation of activities for the organization and carrying out of gambling and about modification of some legal acts of the Russian Federation", says the bill posted in the electronic database of the parliament's lower house.

For instance, the phrase "four gambling zones" is substituted with the phrase "five gambling zones." Therefore, gambling zones will be formed in the Republic of Crimea, the Altai territory, the Krasnodar territory, the Primorsky territory and the Kaliningrad region.

"The executive authorities of the republic will set the boundaries of the gambling zone on the territory of the Republic of Crimea," the document runs.

Russian Central Bank halts operations of standalone units of several Ukrainian banks in Crimea, Sevastopol

The Russian Central Bank has halted operations of standalone divisions of Ukraine's PrivatBank, All-Ukrainian Joint Stock Bank, Kyivska Rus and Imexbank in Crimea and Sevastopol, the Central Bank said in a press release.

It said the decision was made due to the banks' failure to fulfill their commitments to customers.

"The termination of operations of structural units (...) implies a ban on their banking and other operations on the territory of the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol with the exception of operations related to the transfer of assets and liabilities," the Central Bank press service said.
